The Atlantic side
8/9 - 8/10 The wind shifted from the ‘normal’ East to West, South-West. Storm clouds all around us, intermittent rain with a downpour while we slept. We have a system set up to collect water from the hard top - it filled our water tanks by morning. You would think we had enough excitement on Sunday night…but no, we had to return on Tuesday night for more abuse! When we tied up to the dock & didn’t hear music, we were disappointed. To our surprise, the Maryland girls (sans Jason) were already there. We were talking about all the interesting things The Atlantic side
they’ve done since being here - like jumping off a 60’ cliff into the ocean then climbing back up to do it again, (oh, to be young again). They mentioned they're staying across the Glass Window bridge. Now that is something I want to see. A local guy named Mattie was listening & offered to drive us there - “it’s only a few minutes from here”. Off we went & I was delighted. I’ve only seen pictures of it taken from above, it was quite different seeing it from the ground. (Google it- it's awesome)
The Bite side
According to 1996 Yachtsman’s Guide to the Bahamas, “About 2 miles east of Upper Bogue is a striking rock formation known as the Glass Window. Here the land, high on either side, falls away abruptly to nearly sea level, for all practical purposes dividing the island in two. The Glass Window is

- a gift for the boat - bless his heart. It wasn’t crazy like Sunday night, but still a nice evening. The Maryland crowd & Tonya were there then, later, a very stately-looking gentleman came in. He was Senator, Alvin Smith. He has to live in Nassau but said, “I’m home”. Now THIS is what our Senators should do - get out to visit his people. Above is Ernie & Melvise. Ernie is the caretaker for the house where the Maryland kids are staying - he’s been like a body guard to them & taken them everywhere. Have no idea when we left & have no idea how I got on to the dingy or on the boat…but the bed sure felt good. 8/10 Sunny, nice breeze but still hot. Took the dinghy out the pass to the Atlantic where there are hundreds of coral reefs. Trolled around - nothing-nada...I can't believe this! We shoulda snorkled instead. A big storm hit us about 6 pm...the wind generator put out 38 amps-then she free-wheeled & had to turn her off.
